Review the 2-Strike Solution

During the founders meeting, Mike Smith petitioned strongly for greater review of the 2-hit rule.

Everyone agreed that recent and new can manufacturing "cone-top" styles affect outcome and scoring.
But Mike stood clearly against the 2-strike solution saying, "it cheapens legitimate scores".

Compromise was found using the "lock and load" competition can crusher to play the round off-slide and freestyle. Throughout the season, players were allowed a second hit if they played their round off-slide "freestyle".
The "freestyle" rule is now accepted practice.

Off-Slide Freestyle!! - score the legal "2-hit freestyle" play alongside traditional On-Slide single-hit trophies.

High Stacking Stratification 1/2 Count Score
Rule Card 10
Once sited as a foul, the trophy with High Stacking Stratification now scores alongside compression qualified trophies with bonus points based upon the height of the layer stack (GREEN Zone +1 and YELLOW Zone +2).
Rule Card 11
During the final (crunch-off) round of competition, a "low compression" trophy with 3 or more layers stratification, is scored reading 1/2 the stratification value from the minimum layer strait.

Rule Card No.4 Compression
Compression, Rim Alignment & Stratification
Competitively crushed cans (known as trophies) are scored on Compression, Rim Alignment & Stratification.

COMPRESSION - Measurable thickness along the can's vertical axis (axial compression).
Compression is scored in 4 ranges.
    Range    Call         Action
1.   38.1mm & Up     No Go Foul Low Compression
2.   30.6mm - 38.1mm   Low Go    Low Point, Qualified
3.   24.3mm - 30.6mm   High Go    High Point, Qualified
4.   Less Than 24.3mm     No Go Foul High Compression Overload
Measure Axial Compression using the GONOGO  Gauge

rim alignment
RIM ALIGNMENT - Refers to the set of the crushed can. A trophy (can) having severely bent or shifted rim alignment is classed as a Rim Foul. Mild variation in trophy rim alignment is permitted in the presence of overwhelming stratification.

Rule Card 6 Stratification
STRATIFICATION - Horizontal wrinkle pattern, registered in the sidewall of the can. Stratification is the most important quality in the Standard Trophy, because stratification is the aesthetic that we objectively quantify and count when scoring results. (Its Easy!! Learn how to "point-score" your stratification).

Under the competitive format, an assessment of stratification is always made in consideration of detracting or disqualifying Rim Fouls, Side Fouls and Compression Fouls.

Handling Dynamic Blowout

Rule Card 12 Dynamic Blowout
Dynamic Blowout is caused by rapid release of internal pressure as a Game-Can explodes while being crushed.

Characteristics: Dynamic Blowout always leaves its signature on the can. Look for a large extension of the side wall called a "giant wing", and a "blow hole" tunnel to the inside of the can. Low energy ruptures falsely classed as Dynamic Blowout need serious review.

To Be Sure: Instances of Dynamic Blowout must occur without doubt, delivering a loud and distinct POP!!, as trapped air is forcibly exhausted through the bursting container.

Guidelines:
ALL trophies (cans) with Dynamic Blowout shall be confiscated and replaced with an earned "Standard Trophy".

players may use Dynamic Blowout as a means to advance standing in the competition unless officials re-classify Dynamic Blowout: "abstract can-crushing" (Rule 3 below).

Dynamic Blowout
SPECIAL RULING ON DYNAMIC BLOWOUT
  1. A player producing an undisputed Dynamic Blowout, at a primary level of competition, is eligible to qualify with fellow players for the next round of competition.

  2. player using Dynamic Blowout during the final KRUNCHOFFTM Round of competition, must "call it" in advance: The term 'Blowout' or 'Dynamic Blowout' must be clearly signaled by the player, at a time in the crushing cycle, when the Game-Can is placed on the KRUNCHPAD and before the Game-Can is struck with the RAMHEAD.
If Dynamic Blowout occurs during the final KRUNCHOFF Event, unannounced, it is treated as a foul.

  3. Referees are permitted to re-classify Dynamic Blowout - as Abstract Can Crushing and award it outside of the competitive format (Pursuit of the Abstract Trophy .)

  4. ALL borderline cases of Dynamic Blowout will be fouled out.

Like a Thunder Bolt... you may ask ... "Was That A Dynamic Blowout?" - But usually, you KNOW!!   Examine the crushed-can for telltale signs "Giant Wing" and a "Blow Hole" from the core of the can.

The Process of Elimination
Rule Card 18 Getting to the Gold Rule Card 19 Use the "process of elimination" during a tournament to rate competing trophies relative to each other, in a set.

Follow steps in the process of elimination in order, sequentially, until you establish the winning trophy. It is not necessary to complete all steps in the process of elimination to determine the winner. When a tie is too close to call, it is settled by rematch in another CrunchOff event round.

Preparation: Label or mark each trophy. Then arrange all trophies on the scoring table (labeled side down). Rule Card 18 Rule Card 19
